My Dad the Chef
Jan 17th
Author: Joseph Sandoval
Ever since my dad signed up for CLEARTVbundle.com he has become hooked on The Food Network. I think that is so funny because when we were all growing up, we had a person that cooked for us and then my mother cooked the rest of the time when our cook was not there. We were not rich or anything, but that was just something we had growing up. Anyway, my dad has started to cook some in his older years. I will call to check on him and my mom, and he will tell me about some recipe that More >
How Many Pairs of Glasses Do YOU Need?
Nov 5th
I have worn glasses since I was in 3rd grade. (and that’s a very long time) Of, course back then, there were very limited choices in what your new glasses looked like, and unfortunately, I made some bad decisions back then. Now, every time I look back in my family picture book, there is no way to erase those mistakes, for they are forever preserved in photos.
Then, my choices became limited, as my eyes developed various different issues, and my prescription became more and more expensive to get made. Not to mention, that I was determined not to make the More >
Zooey is almost too cute in The New Girl
Oct 11th
Guest post written by Laurie Hunt
I’ve had such a girl crush on Zooey Deschanel for years now. Maybe it was when I saw her as SJP’s snarky roommate in Failure to Launch. She was just so funny and passive aggressive in it. I’ve also followed her in real life. She always looks so adorable on the red carpet and I wish that I had her hair type and professional stylists at my disposal so that my hair could look like hers on a daily basis. If only.
For now I’ll just have to settle on watching her new show on Fox. More >
October Bonfire
Oct 10th
October is here with its harvest moon, and crispy skies. The leaves are just beginning to show their exhaustion, and change into their last autumn colors. Yesterday I was at a friend’s house, with an outdoor fire- not really a bonfire, but big enough. We all sat in a circle and enjoyed the wonderful advent of fall. There is nothing quite like the smell of a fire, along with the damp earth, and crispy falling leaves. A huge log was put on the fire, and it must have had an entire colony of termites in it because as it heated, More >
Remodeling a New Kitchen
Oct 6th
My neighbors next door are remodeling their house. Not just a little, a LOT. They’ve busted out the one-car garage, and are making a two-car garage, and a wood-working shop on one corner of the house. On the back of the house, they’ve closed in a screened porch and are extending the kitchen, totally remolding the inside. They’ve bricked in a window on the other corner of the house, and are remodeling the bathroom there. New roof, new flooring, lots and lots of new stuff.
She is a “foodie” as we fondly call someone who really loves cooking and enjoying food. More >
Philly Bound

Philly Bound
Thanks for the post, Vernon Lowe
All my life, I’ve heard of the giant St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Philadelphia, and I decided that this was finally the year to check it out. My sister agreed to go with me, and she already had a good friend that lived in Philadelphia, so it’s nice because we won’t have to pay for a hotel room. We plan on getting up there Wednesday night, then celebrating St. Patty’s day on Thursday, followed by a fun weekend of spas in shopping in the city. I’m of course talking nothing but green to wear, More >
Violets in the Yard
Apr 17th
There are violets in my backyard. Hundreds of them. I know many, ok, most people think that violets in the grass is a weed, and as such, should be exterminated. Fortunately for the violets, I do not agree. I think they not only are harmless, they are beautiful. They never get too big, or tall because you can run over them with the lawn mower just like grass. They grow side by side with the grass, and create that same green ground cover that is desired, right?
But best of all, in the spring, my entire yard turns purple! Long before More >
Who’s up for a Picnic?
Apr 6th
I love picnics! Yes, I do! It does not matter to me whether it’s on a mountain scenic overpass, or in the back yard. I don’t care if we’re in a park with a grill, and picnic table, or on the ground. I even heard my sister say her family “had a picnic in the car” yesterday- well, I hadn’t thought of it that way, but, sure, call it a picnic!
I have even had picnics on the living room floor. It was a wing-fest. We bought 4, or was it 5?, different kinds of wings, with half a dozen sauces, More >
On Drinking Tea
Mar 27th
Do you drink tea? Traditionally, tea was made hot and drunk hot. There is nothing more quintessentially English than the pot of hot tea. I, myself am very fond of a cup of hot tea, any time of day. I make myself a cup first thing in the morning, and by the day’s end, have probably had two or three more. I like regular black oolong teas, but like to change it up with a variety of flavors, since I drink so much tea. Just one ol’ flavor would get rather boring, and since there are hundreds out there, why More >
Eyeglasses at a Bargain
Mar 24th
I’ve worn glasses since I was in third grade. I remember getting my first pair. It was like a miracle had taken place. The world had edges! That does sound funny, but until I placed that first pair of prescription eyeglasses on my face, my entire world had been fuzzy. Out of focus. Soft around the edges, with everything blending into each other. And, I’ve worn glasses ever since.
Unfortunately, they keep getting more and more expensive. It got so I would delay a little too long before getting a checkup, because I just didn’t want to deal with the inevitable price More >
